# 2040 — The Model

> A prognostic novel by Mila Agius about European payment infrastructure turning, step by reasonable step, into a system of total behavioural control. Pattern recognition, not prediction.

2040 extrapolates real 2026 regulation fifteen years forward. Every core mechanism in the book has a recognizable prototype today: PSD2/PSD3, the digital euro and programmable money, automated risk scoring, retroactive correction, and the Payment Integrity Graph. The author is a behavioural psychologist working in the Gigerenzer (fast-and-frugal heuristics) tradition; the book maps how three weaponized heuristics, trust in authority, follow the majority, and fear of loss, convert convenience into infrastructure.

Eight of sixteen chapters are published, free and with comments open, on Substack. A crowdfunding campaign funds the completion of chapters 9 to 16 and the full book.
